3M Introduces Prestige Window Film

Once again 3M has revolutionized the window film industry. Prestige Sun Control films are virtually colorless and undetectable when installed, yet perform like metalized films. Offered in four different light transmissions, the two lightest films have less interior reflectivity than clear glass while the two darkest films have just 1% more interior reflectivity than clear glass. How did 3M do this? Simple, by using nano-technology.

Nano-technology works with materials that are over a thousand times smaller than the width of a hair. This expertise allows 3M to create a patented window film with hundreds of layers that is less than the thickness of a Post-it® Note. It has allowed 3M to create a film that delivers the highest performance possible without using metal, which can corrode and interfere with digital and satellite signals.

Other film manufacturers advertise colorless films that perform similarly to those offered by 3M. But only 3M produces a metal-free film using true nano-technology. With other films, the perimeter edges must be sealed with silicone to prevent outside air from corroding the film’s metals, especially in coastal areas. Since there are no metals in 3M’s Prestige films, you will never have to worry about corrosion or interference with digital or satellite signals.

Prestige window films must be installed by a 3M-authorized Prestige window film dealer.

3M Window Films Introduces Prestige Series
Over periods of time, UV rays, solar heat and visible light can irreversibly fade fabric and upholstery on couches, chairs, oriental rugs and other valuable items inside a home such as wallpaper and natural wood floors. 3M Window Films are designed to reduce the effects of solar heat and visible light on furnishings and will block up to 99.9% of the sun’s harmful UV rays, which are the single largest contributor to fading. While no film can stop fading completely, these films dramatically slow the progress of fading to keep furnishings looking beautiful.

3M has been a world leader in window films for four decades, having received the first patent for window films in 1966. The new Prestige Series marks 3M’s latest technological contributions to the industry. Leveraging world-class capability in nanotechnology, adhesives, multi-layer optical films and precision manufacturing, 3M has created a new-to-the-world window film that is comprised of hundreds of layers while being less than the thickness of a Post-it Note.
